About Dr. Payal Bajaj
Two decades of fertility care, in one doctor
Experience matters in IVF in a very practical way. Choosing the right stimulation dose, deciding the day of egg retrieval, spotting a uterine problem on a scan, knowing when to stop and change course — these are judgement calls, and judgement improves with years of seeing patients. Dr. Payal Bajaj has spent more than 23 years making them.
Her training covers the full path of women's health. She studied at Lady Hardinge Medical College, completed her postgraduation at VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, and worked as a senior resident at Bara Hindu Rao Hospital in Delhi. She then specialised in fertility: a Diploma in Reproductive Medicine from the University of Kiel in Germany, ASPIRE training in reproductive medicine at St Mother's Hospital in Japan, a one-year ISAR academic fellowship from AFGC in India, and a Diploma in Minimal Access Surgery.
Today she is the Senior IVF Consultant and Medical Director at Nandi IVF, Ashok Vihar. More than 10,000 families have begun their journey here, and the clinic's success rate stands at 82.5%.

Experience in practice
What 23 years of experience changes for you
An experienced IVF doctor is not simply someone who has done many cycles. It is someone who has seen enough different cases to recognise the unusual one — and to know what not to do.
- 01
Individual stimulation plans
Doses are set around your age, AMH, weight and previous response rather than a standard protocol, which helps avoid both a poor response and over-stimulation.
- 02
Difficult cases handled calmly
Low AMH, advanced age, severe male factor, a thin endometrium and repeated failures are part of her everyday work.
- 03
Surgical skill when it's needed
With formal training in minimal access surgery, she can assess and treat fibroids, polyps, blocked tubes and endometriosis by laparoscopy or hysteroscopy.
- 04
Knowing when IVF isn't needed
Many couples conceive with simpler treatment such as ovulation induction or IUI. Experience means recommending those first when they are likely to work.
Her approach is evidence-based and individualised: protocols backed by research, adapted to the person in front of her, and explained in plain language.

Treatments & conditions
Conditions she has years of experience with
Over two decades, Dr. Payal has treated almost every cause of infertility. These are the problems couples most often bring to her.
IVF
Eggs and sperm are brought together in the lab and a healthy embryo is transferred to the uterus.
Learn moreICSI
A single sperm is injected into each egg — used for a low sperm count, poor motility or earlier fertilisation failure.
IUI
Washed sperm is placed in the uterus around ovulation; often a gentle first step for younger couples.
Learn moreEgg freezing
Eggs are frozen by vitrification so you can plan a pregnancy later, for personal or medical reasons.
Learn morePCOS
Irregular cycles managed with lifestyle advice, ovulation induction or carefully dosed IVF that lowers the risk of OHSS.
Endometriosis
Pain and fertility addressed together — laparoscopy where it helps, IVF where the disease affects the tubes or eggs.
Low AMH
A low egg reserve needs a tailored stimulation plan and realistic counselling, not a rushed decision.
Male infertility
Semen analysis, treatment of the cause, and ICSI or surgical sperm retrieval (PESA / TESA) when needed.
Repeated IVF failure
Earlier cycles are reviewed in detail — embryo quality, the uterus, timing — before trying again.
Surrogacy
Altruistic gestational surrogacy for eligible couples, strictly within the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021.

How to judge an IVF doctor's experience
Years in practice are easy to state. These questions help you see what that experience will actually mean for your treatment.
Write these down and take them to your consultation. A good doctor will be glad you asked.
- 01
How long have you worked in fertility specifically?
General gynaecology and reproductive medicine overlap but are not the same. Dr. Payal has 23+ years across both, with dedicated fertility training in Germany and Japan.
- 02
Have you treated cases like ours before?
Describe your situation — low AMH, PCOS, earlier failed cycles, a low sperm count — and ask how the doctor usually approaches it.
- 03
How will you decide on my protocol?
An experienced doctor should explain why a particular stimulation plan suits you, and what she will watch for on the scans.
- 04
Who handles my egg retrieval and transfer?
Experience only helps if it is applied to your cycle. Ask whether the senior doctor performs these steps herself.
- 05
What would make you advise against IVF?
A doctor confident in her experience will tell you when another option is more suitable, or when waiting makes sense.
Getting started
What happens at your first consultation
Much of the value of experience shows in the first meeting, when your history is pieced together. Allow about an hour and bring every report you have.
- 01
A detailed history
Periods, previous pregnancies, surgeries, treatments tried and how your body responded — for both partners.
- 02
Reviewing old reports
Earlier scans, hormone results and IVF records are read carefully; they often hold clues that save time and money.
- 03
Scan and targeted tests
An ultrasound and only the tests that will change the decision, such as AMH, thyroid and a semen analysis.
- 04
Your options, explained
You hear the likely cause, the treatments that fit, their chances and costs — then decide in your own time.
Transparent costs
Experience also means fewer wasted cycles
No two IVF plans cost the same, because no two couples need exactly the same medicines, procedures or lab work. We prefer to give you a written estimate once your tests are back, rather than a figure that changes later.
Getting the plan right the first time — the correct protocol, the right day for retrieval, a healthy uterus before transfer — is the most reliable way to keep the overall cost of treatment under control.
What you can expect
- Written estimate tailored to your plan
- Each medicine and procedure explained
- EMI options, including 0% interest loan plans
- No add-on tests unless they are likely to help
